  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Well that is a funny old noise isn't it. Assume that's at idle? Does it vary with engne speed? The noise seems to have a metallic clicking component in it as well. In addition to previous thoughts. Is the alternator working .... a brush or regulator carrier problem? Maybe your garage guy could readily identify the source?

Sorry not much help but hope you make some progress quickly.

Bob, it's the pipe from the idle control valve to the inlet manifold, it has deteriorated and imploded and is sucking in air, hence the horrendous noise and intermittent high revs. The pipe is obsolete now, I've raised a new thread on this.
