There's a difference between what devices are required to accept, and that's frequently +/- 10% today, used to be -6/+10% yesterday, compared to which tolerances an electricity provider aims at working with.

To be able to keep within +/- 10% at the final end of the wire you have to aim for a tighter tolerance out from the transformers.
Normally the frequency tolerances are much more important to keep. The aim is usually to be better than +/- 1%, although insensitive devices can typically handle +/- 4%.

I spent ages trying to explain that the problem related to the comms between the charger and the car so as to allow intelligent charging. They said they had no way of checking that as they didn't have a smart charger nor any equipment for checking the comms connection at the car's charging port. Wtf?

Thanks again to 'V60 probably' for his kind offer of help.
You're quite welcome.

That sounds like Riverside... They wanted to charge me for a courtesy car whilst mine was in for warranty work, as it was in for three weeks, I'd have paid £315! I take mine to Ray Chapman in Huddersfield, despite the 40 minute journey each way.

It is Riverside. I found Harratts were better when they had the Wakefield franchise.

What you most likely have is an Ohme problem, Volvo will never sort that out. Ohme offer two ways of connecting one sounds a lot like Zappis method which takes the car out of the equation and just controls the charger via Zappi/Octopus apps, the Volvo doesn't get involved, it just waits to see power or it doesn't.
This is my understanding as well - if you are using an Ohme charger with Intelligent Octopus, the charging schedule and whether charging or not is completely controlled by Octopus and Ohme - as far as the car is concerned it's just a dumb charger.

I take it that was the insurance charge? My own insurance specifically covers courtesy cars for me and all named drivers so I always use that for courtesy cars. Maybe mine is unusual though, I don't know.
