Gents.

Thanks for all your input so far - apologies for not getting back sooner as I just got back out to the car today.

Working on the principle of Occam's razor and given that the noise was there before and after the pad change/flush, I had a rethink, I did a full rebleed and then, Using VIDA, I activated the inlet and outlet valves for each of the wheels to try and emulate the noise - no joy. I then activated the pump motor and there was some noise - VIDA said to expect a hum, but it sounded a little harsher than a mere hum. On a whim, I applied the brake while this was going on and - hey presto - there it was – the intermittent scraping noise.

This is the first time I've been able to recreate it when the car is absolutely stationary – pump motor activated and brake pedal depressed, and it is repeatable. So, metal on metal pads/discs would appear to be eliminated, as would be the wheel sensor and the reluctor ring.

So what am I left with? A dodgy ABS motor/module and if so, what are my options? The ABS on testing off road appears to be working fine i.e. harsh braking does not cause a skid. All previous ABS error codes cleared and have not returned (may happen yet).

Thanks again for all your input.

Alvin.

now that you have described dose the scrape noise happen just once after setting off from the first drive of the day and when you have been parked for a short time if so i think what you are hearing is the abs self test this sound is common on certain volvo models mainly on the p1 platform cars v50 c30 c70 ect but it may happen on other models our c70 makes ths scrape noise abt 40 yard from set off pont and dose not repeat untill it been parked.
