Default 940 Estate - What is Missing Beneath Front RH Side

Just acquired a nice 1998 940 Celebration Estate RHD Manual which I have just gone over in detail to list things to do and improvements.

Very pleased to be back in the redblock Volvo world after a few years absence. However, history/experience of several Amazons, a couple of 240's and a 740 does not inform me of what may be missing from beneath the 940 in the area forward of the front RH wheel and outboard of the radiator.

There are the remnants of some bracket/box structure and 2 cables with plugs. UK car all it's life with no signs of modification. The aircon is not working so thought perhaps something to do with that system?

Any knowledge/steers would be appreciated please.

It is PROBABLY the mounting bracket for the alarm/immobiliser's back-up battery.

Thanks Loki - I now realise that the factory fitted "Guard" alarm system has been disabled and major parts removed.

You can manage without the pesky alarm thing, but the central locking can be a simple, but expensive fix. What else is missing??

Doesn't look like anything else is missing. Central locking via drivers door key is working fine. No press button key fobs with the car but that's not an issue for me.

Now absorbing all the aircon info on the forum with a view to either getting that working or deleteing it (i.e. if not a simple inexpensive fix, I may remove all parts/plumbing). Lived a long time with no aircon on 240's and amazons I have owned.
