Hi,
I have a 2017 V60 D6 Twin-Engine (PHEV) which is fitted with a 5 pot D5 Diesel engine, it's due for a service so I'm contacting Volvo indys for costs. Current mileage 96,200 My average annual mileage = 5000-6000 miles/year I'm being advised that I should get the cambelt changed on this service, which also involves replacing all the AUX/ISG belt setup which is more expensive than the cambelt itself. I thought the cambelt intervals were 108,000 and the Aux/ISG belt was 54,000. Have the recommended cambelt intervals changed for the D5 5 pot engine? Cheers, Craig

Sounds like you've got a good 'un there... a newer car with the trusty 5 cylinder engine (not like the newer problematic 4 cylinders that just aren't as good as the old engines in many respects). Plus with it being a diesel hybrid, you have the benefit of not using any fuel at lower speeds and no range anxiety if you need to do a longer journey. ![]() I assume your D6 is euro 6 compliant? How far can you get on electric only realistically before the engine needs to kick in? What's the MPG like on diesel alone if you had no battery range? Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread here, but it sounds like a really interesting car. Forgive me for being inquisitive.

Yes they are quite an oddity. Launched in 2013 and produced up to end of the V60 Mk1 production in 2018. They came in various names:- V60 D6 AWD V60 D6 PHEV V60 D6 Twin-Engine They also made a lower output version called the D5 PHEV or D5 Twin-Engine All had the D5 5-pot diesel, mine being the later model has 220PS Engine and the 70PS motor giving total torque output of 640Nm. Euro 6 Compliant and £0 road tax up to April 2017. Mine also has the Polestar upgrade which takes it to 230PS + 70PS for the motor and 670Nm torque, so it can shift when needed. Fully charged it says it can do 30 miles, but I guess that's on the flat with everything switched off. I can usually get to work and back for 2 days without using any diesel, depending on my right foot ![]() Diesel only its not too bad, high 40's the battery in the boot takes the car weight up to around 2000ks. I bought because I have a touring caravan, it's a great tow car with the extra grunt and very stable due to the extra weight on the rear axle. I get around 28mpg while towing. Think it's while volvo still played with their v60 platform shoehorning all sorts of weird and wonderful engines like the t6 in. I didn't think they kept making the d5 until I did some digging. Hence my choice on the same as Japster. I've got the 290 bhp version. Very very quick car with a motor helping the d5. Being euro 6 too! The lower power ones had free tax as opposed to the d6 twin engine being £170pa. They certainly are a unique and entertaining motor. 30 miles is definitely optimistic, especially for hilly Wales! I've managed to baby 21 miles out of mine on flat driving like miss daisy, but throw a hillstart in and you do lose a few miles! Yes, just a hillstart! Ideal economy commuter if you live local to work. Back to subject: I asked the dealer the same question about the timing belt. They only advise getting the ISG belt changed as part of its routine service. Timing belt will be at 10 years as mine will not hit 100,000 miles by 10 years time! (only on 52k now). If I find a capable indy, I'll let you know Japster, same if you could let me know if you do?

I'm one of the lucky D6 Twin-Engine owners that pay £0 tax as mine was registered Jan 2017 ![]() I've been contacting BVS in Bridgend, they are the Indy that said my belts should be changed, even though I told them my current mileage of 96k. Keith Price in Abergavenny said 108,000 miles for the belts and only offered me a minor or major service option for this year. £320 and £570 respectively.

One thing I would say about the ISG belt is it can still cause the derailing of the cambelt if it were to ever fail . Just like the non hybrid versions. Unfortunate failure recently…..

As Clan has said many times, the Volvo waterpumps are extremely reliable so do not need to be changed. Using non-Volvo belt & tensionser is also asking for trouble In the end, I got my local Volvo dealer to do the belt change at the last service. It was around £660 for the belts which wasn't that much more than I was quoted by the indies.
