Air con has life of its own !
The air con on my S60 T5 SE 2002 sometimes turns itself on after being parked for a while. Is this normal ?

I feel left out!! In two and a bit years I've never caught it doing this!
aye it can come on after about 10 mins when you've turned off, and run for 30 mins easily to dry everything out and stop mildew and bacteria build up. It's more likely to happen like today when it's been hot and humid. Don't worry it, the logic is clever enough not to run your battery flat. Same goes for the radio and any other electrical item there, it will turn everything off if the charge gets too low. vipes

Still getting used to some of the clever Volvo stuff. Left the keys in the ignition once while I waxed it and ran the battery flat in four hours. (geartronic issue I believe)

I just found this thread after doing a search.... the search was prompted by this that happened last night ...I parked the car in the garage last night, locked the car as normal then left the back door to the garage open while I was doing some gardening...walked past the garage about 45mins/1hr later to notice a wuuuuuuring sound...the cabin blower/fan was running, I unlocked the car and got in, as I put the key to the ignition it stopped and went silent.....I thought the car was possessed lol I'd never noticed it doing that before...so put the optimate on it overnight so it would show up if the fan came on again...obviously tonight there was no voltage drop report on the optimate. we'd be screwed without these forums wouldn't we Last edited by y2blade; Jun 15th, 2011 at 08:47. |

Air Con Compressornoise
Volvo S60 Dec 2003 2319cc T5 65K: Having recently replaced a timing belt, belt tensioner, belt roller and installing at the same time a new water pump. I checked all the auxiliary rollers/free wheels and I discovered that the noise I get when the engine is at idle is coming from a dry but apparently undamaged air conditioning compressor electro-magnetic clutch free wheel roller bearing.
Question: Is in situ greasing of this bearing possible and if it is will this cause any damage to the air conditioning compressor electro-magnetic clutch. Bob Trethewey |
