Default PCV refit question

Hello, I am in the middle of replacing my PCV system on my 2001 V70 2.4 petrol none turbo. I have replaced the PCV box now and am refitting the inlet manifold. There is a shortish u shaped pipe that feeds from the left of the manifold to the left of the PCV box! The pipe is new, genuine Volvo. For the life of me I cannot get it on the manifold, there is almost no room to get your fingers in. Does anyone have any tips?
The old pipe had a hard central pipe with soft rubber outer but the new one doesn't have the hard bit.
Any advice is appreciated.
