From there point of view it will be easy for them to just fit you a new part and programme it. From what the guy i was speaking to said the dealer would need to contact Volvo and ask for them to help ie remote access or what ever. It depends on how willing they are to try and help you as the customer but it sounds like they just want to sell you a new screen. So no you haven’t been scammed but perhaps they haven’t done all they could for you. I mean this is just from me speaking to a Volvo guy in the UK. I haven’t got any direct experience of this on any of my own cars for example. I suppose your stuck as you can not speak to Volvo directly youself and only go through the dealer. Is there another Volvo dealer in your area you could have a conversation with?

In the UK we also have specialist companies that can repair electrical modules from these cars. Is there any such company near to you?
