XC60 Tailgate Boot Catch Button Fail
Hi,
Searched the forum for this one, apologies if duplicate. 2011 XC60, manual opening Boot / Tailgate not working. Boot catch will not release when external handle is pressed. If I take off the outer rubber cover and push the little internal button it releases the catch every time. I then screw the cover back on and it works fine about 6 times then stops again. Anyone had this? What's the problem / solution? Thanks |

I had the exact same problem and I left the rubber cover off and put some duck tape over the contact, This lasted for a few years but I replaced the switch when I was needing to push the button to much before it operated. On my model the switch was built in with the number plate lights and a new unit cost £100 with a diy fitting.

Hi wilbydoughboy
Thanks for the reply - thankfully mine is seperate from the numberplate lights but that probably won't make it any cheaper! So the problem you had was in the little switch itself? |

Yes it was the electric switch. I did replace the actual locking latch first but it wasnt that.

OK, that makes sense now. It seems that it's only possible to replace the entire moulding as the small electrical switch is moulded into the moulding. Websites tend to refer to it as 'Volvo XC60 tailgate handle' with various part numbers depending on moulding, but I suspect you and I both have the '30784349'. Thanks for your helpful comments.
