According to the Gospel according to Wogan, I should then be looking for a flat cap, and have the 240 governed to no more than 50mph, but rest assured I won't!
And according to the Gospel of Mike it should be lowered, have a Jetex exhaust fitted and driven to keep up with the traffic, but ahead in the twisties, but none the less in a considerate way.

Hey, Mike,
How do I go about lowering a 240/740, Is it a new springs job?

And what's this Jetex exhaust.. I thought Big Bores were only for BMC type minis and 1100's and Citroen Saxo's driven by gum chewing chavs?
Is there really an exhaust kit for the 240/740 series?

Cool How many Volvo's?

Thought I'd reply (first post in ages!)

Although this was some years ago, when I still lived with parents, our driveway looked like the local Volvo dealership!

Parents had:
'85 360
'90 740 est

Older sister had:
'94 440

Older brother had:
'79 343

I had:
'85 340

Little sis had parents 'hand-me-down':
'85 340

We've all moved on a bit now, but said parents and myself still into Volvo. Although parents now live in France, and drive an '05 XC70 with the steering wheel on the wrong side..... perculiar these frenchies... And I have the trusty '96 850 T5 (if only they'd made it rear wheel drive...)

Chris.

Lowering is easy just a case of set of springs - shocks may well need replacing at the same time depending on condition.

The Jetex exhaust is a Swedish system that gives quiet power. Change in note but not noisy, gain of 1-2mpg and more power on hills - noticeable especially when towing. If you look at the silver 245 GLT this has been lowered. Can supply for both 240s & 740s.
