I've had my Volvo S40 for the past 2 years and the boot has always had to take addition effort to close the boot. I have always manage to close it but if you don't apply addition pressure the boot will stay half closed and the dash will indicate boot lid open.
Its really starting to annoy me because I'm starting to see a slight dent as result of the addition pressure i need to apply. Slamming it does not work it but downward pressure does. Also note that boot button on both my keys does not open the boot. If anyone has any recommendation to identify what the issue is and how I can fix it that would be great. ![]() Last edited by Zimbabo; Apr 10th, 2015 at 17:51. |

I would suggest that the wiring loom for the boot lid on is on the way out. I had first needed to slam the boot lid a few times to close, this got worst and later would not close. Noticed when opening the lid the number plate illumination lights came on with no key in the ignition so that indicated it was an electrical issue. This was just before the last service (5th year) where I asked the dealership to take a look at it and they confirmed it was the wiring loom in the boot lid needed replacement, which they did at great cost as I needed it fixed ASAP.
