They can also help with the insurance mods and are good at replacing old turbo units. I seem to remember that the D5 block was based on the Volvo Penta marine turbo diesel. Volvo detuned the compression ratio several times and in my opinion if you tune one without using an approved Volvo Map, two things will happen, firstly the turbo might cause trouble and secondly the HP pump oil seal might start dripping, as they are both weak links. Flushing out the oil system with a major brand (Castrol or LM) idle use only oil additive just before an oil and filter change will help get rid of any varnish deposits in the oil feed line, which will help the turbo, BUT it can also cause the HP fuel pump seal to drip until a stop leak or seal swellers in a high mileage oil stop it. Sort of catch 22 unless you have newish oil seals. Reducing the oil change interval to 3K miles and switching to a major brand non dinosuar based oil like Shell Ultra 0 or 5w40 (There is an 0w for the DPF afflicted) will get rid of varnish deposits, but it does take longer to do that than the Liqui Moly additive.

AUTOMARK in Stokesley, (Teesside).
These guys are highly recommended by some of the lads I work with. I inquired about my XC90. He called me the next day and discussed my options. He was honest enough to tell me that I wouldn't reap the fuel savings I was interested in but that he would be able to improve the car in other areas. They tune the car specifically to your needs and don't just chip it with an off the shelf part. I was quoted around £300. Mike. |

Just to confirm that MTE's Swedish written software will cost you £395 including VAT and will give you outputs of 225bhp with 480nm of torque.
You install this software yourself from taking an initial read-out from your car's OBD port to installing MTE's bespoke calibrations using their Softloader device as an interface between your car's OBD port and an XP equipped or compatible laptop. I loan that Softloader against a fully returnable deposit of £155. Don.

I played it safe and went with Polestar. When the engine is on 140k miles and I can't see myself changing it until it's past 300k miles, I want the safety of something that is manufaturer approved.
