Hello everyone!
I am still a new guy to the forum (been reading threads, for help). Forgive me if there is an answer for this already. Here is my dilemma: Car: 2003 S40 Problem: Whining turbo when accelerating (limp mode). Sounded like a turkey when I throttled it. I have the 7 nuts removed and all of the hoses (minus the one that is metal and feeds into the oil pan). I believe that the turbo assembly is connected to the oxygen system (where 3 of the 7 nuts were) and I have to remove that to completely remove the turbo assembly. That is where I am stuck. If I confused anyone...sorry. I just need to know what to take out so I can get the turbo out. Thank you! |

Having swapped my turbo on my T4, there is only the rubber pipes, 2 x coolant pipes, 2 x oil pipes and the actuater arm to remove. There should then be enough room to wiggle the turbo out by moving the exhaust over. If my memory's correct.

Yes that's the exhaust bit V40DSchariot is referring to. Undo the nuts on the bottom of the cat/dp and you should be able to let it hang on the side/down.

I started to rotate the blades and it wobbled side to side. Must have been bent (or warped). And as you can see, the edges were getting banged up. I am about to order some new gaskets. Hopefully the car will be up and running by tomorrow.

So, after I put in the new Turbo, I realized that I was missing a stud. I ended up pulling an old stud from the other turbo and the car is back up and running. Thank you all for your input! Definitely helped.
Next up: Motor Mounts (all). |
