V60 D2 Engine Check light on. 8mths old. 6K
Hi,
My wife has a 66 plate V60 D2. Engine check light came on today, I'm reading about this being related to emission on the D4 is this the same problem? No noticeable difference on performance. Booking in to Volvo next week. Presumably safe to drive. Thoughts? Thanks Rich |

What does the manual say? Normally when the thing isn't safe to drive a big, angry red triangle comes up.
The check engine light just means that there is something that needs looking at, the easiest way to find out is by getting it plugged in which it sounds like you have covered, sometime they are pretty benign, other times a bit more serious.

The book says it's an emissions problem. This seems common on D4 but can't see anything in D2.
I'll see what they say after they look at it |

EGR - without a doubt. There's some modified pipework that'll be fitted under warranty.

Thanks guys, it's sounding like the same problem. We shall take it in. Hopefully they can fix it completely without revisits as it seems very common from your info.
I'll post back Cheers. |

So Mrs took it in, they say they cleaned the sensor and its fine now. So we shall wait and see if it reoccurs. If that's all they did I'm reasonably confident it'll happen again soon.
