05 V70 Using loads of oil!?
right this is my final hurah with this bloody car. ive got a 2005 V70 D5 2.4TD 170BHP 6 speed model. its done 218K
Prioblem is: dpf has been chemically cleaned via a company, it has been blasted down the motorway etc but we are getting soot box full, engine service required.... we had the dpf cleaned no more than 2 months ago, the guy at the garage said it wasnt too bad? it has been using oil like there its free! we top it up to full mark within 100 miles the oil light comes on and low and behold it is on minimum. Dont know what else to try? I can possibly borrow a volvo Diagnostic VIDA unit to do a forced regen but i cant see why the dpf been full will cause it to use so much oil? im sorry if this has been covered but im at a loss and ive looked without a definitive answer... EGR has been cleaned etc DPF has been cleaned Please can anyone shed some light.... It does throw some white smoke out when you pull off at 1st but other then that and the high oil consumption the car runs spot on |

Nope not losing any oil under engine, what i suspect is that the dpf is clogged up, the engine has loads of pressure as it was pushing the dipstick out if i remember correctly so im suspecting its blowing past the piston rings as the back pressure from the dpf been blocked up is causing this?

I fixed my excessive oil consumption just by replacing the DPF. it was using more than a 1lt every 400 miles
The odd thing was, I never got a soot filter full warning but it was constantly in regeneration mode when driving. now its back down to 1/2 lt per 1000 miles which is acceptable for the mileage.. |

I'm not sure about damage done.
I think my engine has suffered accelerated wear due to the constant regens it was doing over the 8K while I worked out the problem, with the poor bores and rings now like what they would be on a much higher mileage engine. The turbo seals might have taken a hammering too with the excess back pressure they were dealing with |

Hi

Car using oil- blocking DPF? I can't see how a blocked or partially blocked DPF would cause the oil consumption to raise that much. Especially as they said the DPF wasn't blocked that much. Any codes on Vida Dice? Iain |
