Default Dodgy offer to buy my 940

Anyone else had some dodgy geezer offer to buy their big old Volvo?
Lunchtime today, knock on the door.
"Someone said you wanted to sell that old Volvo?",
followed by some bull about having just bought another car and the seller said this one was for sale.
Smelled a rat.

So I wandered up the street after they'd gone and sure enough they drove by again very slowly with bloke's passenger filming/photoing on the mobile.

Big black Nissan Navarra.

Banger-racers looking to nick it maybe?

Could be genuine but I'd be suspicious, especially as they drove by again.

I'd be for pulling the rotor arm off it.

Can you park it out of sight?

Oh god here we go, so they've moved on from 240s to 940s now. Right time to get my 940 tucked away every night now.

They will be banger racers, there was a massive speight of 240s being stolen Kent way a couple of years ago for banger racing.

Pulling the rotor arm off will do nothing, they steal old fords all the time and are in and out in minutes with it on the back of a transporter. Just have a look at the retro rides forum stolen section, there is obviously an all Granada banger meeting coming up as they're being stolen again.

Got the reg,
removed two plug leads.
Might find out where the local banger racing's at, scope it out.

I'd be inclined to use some highly visible deterrent like an actual wheelclamp or one of those big yellow steering wheel locks, it wouldn't stop a determined thief who knew what they were doing but if your car is visibly less easy to nick they might go elsewhere.

Perhaps a call to the Police 101 (?) telephone line to report suspicious activity is in order.

Done that, just to see if the reg was flagged.
