You'll get some members who suggest the older model and other members who suggest the newer model. I like both and enjoy driving either.

The real question, therefore, has to be "What's going to be better for you?"

I have to ask what your budget is.

Also, why a Volvo V70? What led you towards it?

Do you want manual or automatic? What fuel do you prefer? Do you want a car with lots of bells and whistles? Do you like more power or less power?

The one thing that I can say is that a Volvo of any age is only any good if it has been well looked after. This includes not only service history, but whether or not all breakages and component failures have been addressed. A loved P2 will trump a neglected P3 and vice versa.

Finally, irrespective of personal preference, the youngest P2 is now over 13 years old whereas the youngest P3 is only four. This is worth bearing in mind.

Over.

As above^^^^^^

It all comes down to personal choice. Personally, I prefer the older models as they are simpler to work on and within my capabilities to do so.

On Autotrader today that gives you a choice of zero cars.

That’s zero cars that I’d consider as viable options.

Why would you not consider viable options

I found two cars that met your requirements.

One had no recent service documentation, and the other had un-repaired damage to the rear bumper.

There are some nicer examples if you look at those with an automatic gearbox. Manuals are relatively rare beasts.
