Default Under bonnet seal

Hi All,

Just while looking at my battery and replacement options it looks like the v70 p3 should have a seal strip that runs the full width at the back of the engine bay that you have to lift to take the battery cover off.

Mine doesn't have that seal.

Am I right in thinking I should have it and can anyone point me to the part or part no? I can't find it.

Its a 2015 D4 by the way.

Thanks

Mine has the strip, but no idea on part number. I’m sure Volvo will be able to tell you.

Thanks. Great website.....strangely though, despite having lots of bonnet seals they don't have one for a v70.

I'll try the dealer.

Ok, got one ordered for £24 but strangely they say it's company policy not to give out the part number.

Some garages are funny like that. If they give you the part number, the likelihood is you'll use that to cross reference it against other non-genuine parts.

An American site, so doesn't list diesel-specific parts, but you can use to find part numbers and diagrams for all the common parts (scroll down and click "all models" to click through to the S80 or V70 model, and go from there)

There's also a rubber strip along the top of the rear hatch to stop rain getting into the tailgate hinges. Wasn't fitted on my XC70 but came across it on a VolvoSweden YouTube video by those clever Russians. They said I could use any suitable rubber weather strip and I had some left over from a door sealing job so I used that and because my car is a sort of bronze colour, the strip which was brown not black like the Volvo part, merged in and is hardly noticeable. I mention this in case anyone needs to protect the tailgate hinges from leaking into the headlining.

Your right. You will probably find that many parts are Ford spec even have "FoMoCo" stamped on them from when Ford owned Volvo . The ford part is generally more easily available and cheaper . Example Jaguar Sportbrake also a Ford owned design a few years ago , windscreen washer pump £ 80 plus. Ford oem part £11 ! A little research goes a long way .

Yep, I know about the Ford relation.

Are the part numbers the same though? For example, VIDA will show the part number for Volvo's, but that would be different to Ford's I presume. On that basis, wouldn't it be tricky to find parts?
