Question NAV Removal?

Does anyone know how to remove a Nav unit like this?

Does the "mesh" in the middle of the dash just pop out, or do you have to remove the air vents etc to get underneath it?

Is that the Japanese one?

Only done it in a P2, that was a case of gently levering up the speaker grille, careful not to bend it, then the screen assembly and speaker was held in by 4x torx screws.

Obviously you’ll need the dash centre speaker and grille from the non-nav version.

You’ll also at least want to pull the power to the disc reader as well.

Probably easier to leave it turned off in the lowered position.

Yes, it's an ex-Japanese import. I contacted Pioneer/Carrozerria and they only have Nav for the Japanese home market - no English or NZ map firmware updates.

I'm hoping I can remove the unit and replace it with an Android tablet that will somehow fit into the pop-up casing.. so I'm not ready to replace the grill just yet.

I'd like to see someone levering a P3 centre speaker - that would give me a little more confidence. On my 2005 XC70 I had no idea how to remove the centre console and broke my wood effect trim.. second-hand replacements are rare in NZ and the price tag is always a rip-off.

Yeah there's a load of kit associated with it - the disc reader is in the glovebox and there's a unit in the boot as well. I don't know if that's the amp or not. I'm hoping the stereo will work fine minus the NAV head unit. I have an AUX port on my centre console that I'd want to run back up to the Android tablet and of course I'd need to tap USB power from somewhere too.
