Ok,Ok, perhaps my words were a bit heavyweight at 0342 this morning. I'll try again now at 1341.....!!!!
My understanding was that the aluminium ones were genuine Volvo spec, and therefore would be of the quality we expected from Volvo, and that the galvanised ones were an aftermarket quality. Maybe that is not the case? I am a bit concerned about the weight, as other help to fit or remove this is not available right now. I guess I could colour code the sides so that it blends in more. In response to Barkster 1971 galvanising does rust which is why we in the building trade tend to opt for stainless steel for external use. Maybe galvanising for this application is of a much higher quality and durability.... |

By the way, i mounted this roof rack on various 700/900's over the years, the last being my 960 estate...yeah, its a 2 man job to do it(safely)...but as with most things in life, i got my wife to assist...shes maybe 5' 3", an at the time small in frame/statue/short arms etc...but its easy peasy to do!...Come from behind the car, one holding each side of the roofrack, hold up chest height, position said roof rack so that you can still open the tailgate(without fouling/touching end of roofrack) attach 4 clamps each side, job done. Then dont be surprised, that the general public will point at you, stop in their tracks, an gasp at the outrageous "load" that your carrying on top of your proper roofrack!!! ![]() ![]() As you can see, im not too fussed if i sell this or not ![]() |

There is, then one last question which I can't see the answer to from the photo. Is it high enough to cover the factory fitted roof bars?

If you mean the factory fitted roof rails that run front to back, on each side of the roof, then yes, i fitted this roofrack to 700/900 series estates, with or without the factory fitted roof rails. |
