1995 940 LPT fuel return hose ticking noise
Is anyone able to give me some advice about a noise that has become noticeable in my 940. It’s a fast ticking or knocking noise that you can hear from the front seats. It speeds up and down to follow engine speed.
After some investigation it appears to be coming from the rubber fuel pipe that connects the injection manifold return pipe to the metal pipe at the side of the engine bay. If you lift up or hold the rubber pipe the noise stops, but you can still feel the pipe pulsating. The rubber hose on the supply side also pulsates but it’s a lot less strong - until the pipe gets near to the round thing in front of the connection to the metal manifold pipe. The “round thing” looks like some sort of non-return valve but I can’t find it on any parts diagram. Apologies for my naivety here but is this pulsing normal or is it indicative of something going wrong? Thank-you.
