Unless you are after originality if i had a 164E i would convert the injection to either K jetronic from the V6 ( use some parts like injector holders from a 1974 140 ) or update the injectors pump and sensors and use a programmable ecu like the emerald M3D or Megasquirt .. It would transform economy and drivability if not power which was always adequate !
The original system was prone to going out of tune with injectors semi blocking resulting in weak mixture which could be compensated for by adjustments to the pressure sensor up to a point . The fast idle bypass would stick too . Over time i'm sure the components in the ECU would go out of tolerance causing odd problems . No microchips or memory in those days !
