XC70 rear nearside lock
Yet another lock has failed on my Volvos. This time it's the rear nearside lock on XC70 2014.
The Volvo part no. is apparently 31253675, but I am a bit fed up with paying Volvo prices for their shoddy locks. Has anyone had any success with an OEM lock? And which one might I need as I cannot see any mention of a lock compatible with this Volvo part no.? Thanks for any thoughts. |

Hi there,
I haven't experience until v recently with locks failing/behaving erratically. In my case - it's the driver's door. Doesnt always lock (the lock "button" doesnt go all the way down). But it's intermittent - so I'm leaving it for a while. Where did you source your part no.? Was it from a dealer? I think the door lock actuators are a common Volvo fault...and a bit of an achilles heel (along with Aux belt!). Ive neve rhad a central locking fault ever on any other car (that I can recall)! I've seen lots of actuators on eBay..whether they work or wehtehr they're the correct fit - who knows! Anways, there is a guy on You Tube called volvosweden. He explains the issue, and remedial work needed to fix (over replacing): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIZmJFqoDKk Could be a far more economic option?

I can't offer any specific advice, but our local specialist claims they can fix these. All in was around £180 fitted.
Like you, I've recently dropped £500 or so on having a new Volvo lock put into the rear door, so will be going down the repair route the next time one goes. |
