Vibrations before downshift
What could cause annoying rough vibrations, most felt on the seat, at low RPM (@ 1200RPM) or right before downshift? This only occurs when engine is hot AND outside temperature is 10°C or more. This wasn't happening months ago in the winter, even if the engine was hot. This is noticeable in gears only around 30, 50 and 70 km/h.
Vibrations feel like phone vibrating, a lot stronger of course. No difference after transmission oil flush (at Volvo dealer). Car: XC70 D4 AWD (Polestar map) 220hp 2016. Milage: 130.000 km |

Especially later models are programmed to try to minimize fuel consumption. One of the actions is to hold on to a higher gear sometimes a bit too long.
When it's cold outside it allows more lockup release, to keep the oil in the gearbox warm. My 2012 occasionally stays in a gear all the way down to 1000 r/min. That I do notice too. |

I was afraid it has to do something with the mechatronics in the gearbox, because my father has xc60 2015 D5 AWD and it doesn't have such symptoms or it's rather not noticeable as much.

And our XC70 D4 2016 doesn't behave exactly like the XC70 D5 2012 either. Part of that is due to different final drive, but the software's strategy for gear management is problably not identical either.

Makes sense. Thank you for our input. I guess I'll just have to get used to it.
