Default Rear Diff Drain/Fill Port

*Duplicated from AWD section*

Hi,

2005 petrol XC70.

Could someone confirm that the drain/fill port for the rear diff, (not the Haldex), is the paler bolt on the left of the attached photo, please? This was taken from the rear facing forwards. If not, where on eath is it? Nothing in VIDA or online seems to fit my car, (VIDA calls this bolt a 'flange screw' and shows the plug to be on the front like an 02 car).

Best regards,

Rich.

yep.

this is my 2004 V70 R.

My rear diff has a leak so it gets topped up every 6 months.

I think the diff oil is Volvo part #31259380

If you want to change the oil you need to find a way to suck it out and probably need an angled socket to get too it.

Thanks Nick.

Mine is also finding its own way out somehow!

Do you happen to know the correct level for ours? I've seen minus 100ml quoted from other VIDA users but my VIDA says minus 250ml from 'full at the hole', although it also thinks I have a VC system rather than Haldex!

I just fill to till it overflows out the hole. I've not been too worried about over filling as it's going leak out eventually anyway. There is supposedly a vent on the top which excess oil comes out of.
