As Clan has said many times, the Volvo waterpumps are extremely reliable so do not need to be changed. Using non-Volvo belt & tensionser is also asking for trouble

In the end, I got my local Volvo dealer to do the belt change at the last service. It was around £660 for the belts which wasn't that much more than I was quoted by the indies.
Thanks MacV50, this is what's been worrying me, the ISG setup is very sensitive to belt tension I've been reading.

Although I have the dilemma now of do I put the belt change off until next year and have it done at Volvo, since they are not due until 108,000 miles and with 96,000 on the clock and me doing average of 5000/year that's next year or the year after, since car is technically not 10 years old until 2026 since it was built in 2016.

Its a tough one, but I get what you are saying about indys and non Volvo parts.

If it was my car, I'd put it off to next year. As far as I'm aware, the 5 pot diesels are not known for snapping belts early but it's your call

Also worth noting that the Volvo main dealers offer 0% payment plans so although it'll be more than an indie, you can spread the cost.
