Default Vvt?

According to the Haynes manual if a car has VVT there is a hub on the front[inlet]camshaft pulley, there's also pictures of this in the said manual. My step daughters C70 2.4 lpt doesn't have that it does however have some kind of hub thing on the rear[exhaust camshaft pulley,so is that for VVT or if not what is it for?

Yes, vvt pulley is on the exhaust cam.

Just re-read your post. The 'hub thing' you refer to is the vvt pulley.

That's what I thought it was, mainly on the basis that I couldn't come up with anything else it could be Just confusing that Haynes say and show that the vvt hub is on the other cam sprocket

I think Volvo fitted the vvt on the exhaust on turbo models and inlet on non turbo. That is certainly the case on the classic S/V40 range. Haynes often ignore such subtleties.
