Default How to change the turbo?

Hi everyone.!

I'll preface this thread with "I'm by no means a mechanic but, with a bit of research I am confident in attempting most repairs myself"

I've got a 2.0d D4204T and my turbo needs replacing; after receiving some rather high quotes (that I could really do without) I'm going to change the turbo myself. I have found a remanufactured turbo for a good price and I'll purchase the oil feed & oil return hoses, a new filter and oil before doing the job.

I'm looking for a step by step if possible, maybe a list of tools needed and locations of the bolts that need to removed. I've read that the EGR cooler & driveshaft both need to come off and an engine mount needs to come off so the engine can be pulled forward to create space... is this the easiest way?

Has anyone got a link / thread / video on how to change the turbo? Anything I have found so far seems a little bit vague.

Thanks in advance.!

iv never replaced a turbo but the egr and cooler can be a challenge as some of the bolts have tight access and a hidden allen bolt out of sight under the egr allow plenty of time if you are planning to do this your self check the duty cycle of the egr before disassembly in case it needs cleaning or replacing..
