Default V70 2.4 2002 aircon clutch noise

Hi all
I'm working through jobs on a new to me 2002 v70 2.4 petrol manual .
When I got it the aircon didn't work, which I had diagnosed as a leaking condenser which I have replaced myself. I had it pressure tested and recharged and the aircon now works and blows nice and cold.
However it cycles in and off every 10 to 20 seconds, and seems a lot noisier than my previous v70 d5.
The noise is a rattling type sound which I think is the clutch.
Is this amount of cycling normal ? I'm not sure if my previous car cycled on and off as much as this as it was a lot quieter (Although the d5 engine was louder so may have masked any noise) and do the clutches on these
get noisy with age ?
I'm thinking of changing the clutch myself if this is the problem.
Ps the clutch gap is within spec but has been shimmed with cable ties

Perfectly normal for the compressor to cycle on and off as you describe. The noise might be the compressor motor as there isn't really much to rattle on the clutch unless the plastic had broken from its mounts

on a car of that age its more than likely that the clutch friction plate is worn replacements are available.

Thanks both for your replies !
It's good to know that the cycling interval is normal.

My compressor or clutch is definitely noisier than that clip. I tried uploading a clip but it's the wrong format I think.
You can hear it quite clearly from outside the car with bonnet closed.
The clutches look quite expensive for a new one, and as you say, the noise could be the compressor itself
I'm thinking of picking up the whole compressor from a breakers and first swapping the clutch over and seeing if that quietens it down. If not I could swap the whole unit but would obviously have to have system evacuated and refilled to do this.
Thankyou !
