Hi folks,
First proper post in this section, normally over on the mk1 and mk2 v70 pages. Ive recently got a 2013 v60 d3 r-design (2l 5cyl) manual. What sort of MPG should I be getting? Currently I am getting the same as my (previous) v70 d5 geartronic - about 42mpg. This is over the same shortish drives to work - A and B roads - steady driving, nothing quick at all. It did have a sticky front caliper, no sorted. New air filter + oil filter, no looked at the diesel filter yet. Other points that may be of interest - Stop/start doesn't seem to work - menu says: unavailable battery charging. even after a longer (1 hour) drive it still says charging... Any ideas or checks are welcome! Thanks Ben |

Mpg was pretty mediocre when I got it but it had over 20k without a service. Sorted the service including a new diesel filter, fixed the usual rear brake sticky problem and cleaned or replaced the sensors for turbo, intake etc...the intake sensor was blocked with carbon. Also changed the oil twice in 2k miles as I was unsure what was in it originally. After that it was running about 60mpg but the turbo was "off" after 2500rpm,,split inter cooler pipe. Now running at an average of 54/56mpg on the dash..translates to about 53mpg tank fill to tank fill. On dpf regen around 42mpg,,,just recently discovered !! Stop start is same as yours !!! 6 months in it is still saying battery charging!! I don't care for SS so not bothered. Last edited by V60white; Jul 1st, 2024 at 12:53. |

Thanks for your reply,
yes its a diesel, done just over 100k miles. I got it through my local indie dealer, known and trusted. It should have come with a full filter and oil change, I've no reason to doubt them, but wil check! The turbo spool and boost does seem quite audible, doesn't seem to be lacking in power, but I'll have a look around boost pipes for signs of problems. Ive got vida so I'll plug it in and see what comes up too. Thanks Ben |

Not that it will help much as it is a completely different engine but roughly same weight car, I am averaging 50mpg in the 1.6 Drive on 83K miles. On a mixture of city, A roads and a little M1 my commute is 50 miles round trip. Loving the fact that because the tank is so big that it is showing 700-800 miles to the tank.

Once cleaned or replaced the low speed torque etc was restored , didn't need to press the accelerator quite as hard...less fuel used i would guess, that's when I discovered the split in the intercooler to throttle pipe that obviously messed with the higher rev range !!! Mine is at 135k miles now..... |
