Spare key programming for Japanese import 2011 V70

Hi many thanks for the feedback. That's reassuring. I tried a local Volvo dealer and was told that they couldn't help! So your experience was very helpful indeed. As an interim measure I bought a tile tracker for the key as I'm being very paranoid about losing it.

Hi, thanks for your advice. I'm going to give it a go. The local Volvo dealer here was a bit clueless to be honest so it's great to know that it can be done.

If it helps the dealership that did it was Parkside Volvo Orpington in South East London. I believe they have since moved to Sidcup Road but are still an HSF Volvo dealership.

They were not confident and told me that they would still charge me even if it didn't work. Given I was already there I went ahead anyway.

On my invoice it says:

Have called around to a few auto locksmiths but few seem to be able to do Volvo. And none have been able to do Volvos from Japan. Apparently the key fob operates at a different frequency to UK cars.

Any help appreciated to avoid having to spend £400+ at a dealer. I am based in London but willing to travel if needed.

Last time I came across this Volvo uk Tech dept arranged an individually written software to do it at a dealer.
