So there have been developements.
I went ahead with changing the non standard spring, at a cost of £900. I was assured the car had been road tested by two technicians, and it was all good to go. So before paying the money, I took the car out for a drive.......the same issue was obvious within a few hundred meters. So it seems the non stard spring wasn't the (only) issue. So the dealer agreed it was still not right, gave me back the courtesy car, and said they'd be in touch. Today, they have said they can't visual see any issues, and have offered to buy the car from me, for £6000 (WBAC + £500). I paid £10000, 9 months ago, and have just had a £500 service done while the car has been in being repaired. I've said I'm not willing to take the car back as it is. I have contacted Volvo UK again, who are going to speak with the repairing dealer later today. Does any one have any advice on my situation? As I don't really know what my options are. Thanks, James |

Citizens advice centres ( if things like this still exist) or motoring organisations if you are a member ) can offer advice or guidance. Volvo getting involved may help you, but I suspect some type of legal action/threat there of, might be necessary. Big organisations tend to try and ignore their responsibilities and hope the little man goes away.
There may be a motoring ombudsman or equal who could give support, but I think they cannot be approached until all other avenues are exhausted. Cheers Bob

Understandably, this situation isn't good and you have every right to be annoyed. What's your thoughts on the offer though? By no means am I defending anyone, what's happened here is shocking. You've paid £900 as advised by Volvo for spring replacement, got the car back and its still the same? So what happens to the £900 you've paid? Sounds to me like this could go on and on for a long time, with no guarantee of a result. They've given up, essentially (hence why they offered to buy it). I don't know what avenue you used to purchase the car (finance, cash deal etc etc), but personally, I'd get rid of the car. There's clearly more issues than just the springs. They've offered a WBAC figure plus £500, so there's the price of your service that you had done back in a roundabout way. I don't know what year your car is/mileage, so can't determine what its worth. You paid 10k for it 9 months ago... The offer seems low to me, but maybe it isn't? Maybe try getting more money for the car and be done with it...
