Default Headlight adjustment for Europe

2004 XC70 (P2) with HIDs

Can anyone please tell me what can be done to adjust my headlamps for driving on the right? My handbook has nothing about adjusting that I can see... and the only instructions I have found online are for the P3 or newer.

If it's relevant mine is a Japanese import.

Thanks!

you can buy kits for that sort of thing

it's not just the headlights there are other legal requirements you should read up on

for example
https://www.euromotoring.uk/europe-driving-kit
others are available

Wait, I thought Japanese cars also drove on the left side, same as in the UK(since you mentioned the right side).

The headlights themselves can be adjusted by the knob up and down, but I believe, there is also an internal mechanism whereby they can be adjusted horizontally.

Yeah it's fine for here in the UK but I'm going to Europe for holidays and in my previous HID cars (BMWs) there was a lever to set the lights to not dazzle oncoming cars

I can't see a lever anywhere on mine!

Headlights can not be adjusted or switched inside for the lhd roads, you can put special stickers onto the headlights or buy a set of lhd-hid xenon headlights and put them onto your car…

In your cars handbook are the correct templates to make the correct stickers required to adjust the light pattern. You can also download it from the Volvo website.

There are two templates depending if your halogen or bi xenon.

It became a lot easier on the P3 cars as you can either do it through the screen or a leaver in the back of the light on the v70 S80.

I can't see anything in my handbook - have you got a link?

Select 2006 v70 and main manual should come
Up. The lighting templates may have been missing from earlier books. Page 139 - adjusting headlamp pattern
