Hi Bonefishblues

You’ve just blown me away with your latest input

I’m certainly not into the science of it all, I guess that’s why I need to see it printed on the container.

I’ve just had a look on ebay and think I will buy some Shell Helix Ultra ACEA A5/B5 0W-30 API SL FULLY SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL .

Its just shy of forty quid for 4L, I have used Shell Helix as well as the Comma oil.

I'll get 8L that will leave me with some over if I need to top up at any time.

Thank you for your crash course

Clive

You're welcome. And don't get me started on esters. No, really don't!

That's a good choice, Clive, it’s what I have in my '05 S80 and C70 2.0T's, both automatic, and fuel consumption quicly returned to factory figures after changing to Shell Helix Ultra. It's also produced from natural gas which apparently has brilliant cleansing properties for your engine. If you could stretch to a 20ltr drum/pail you may get it cheaper per litre.

In saying that it's hard to argue with Bonefishblues' recommendation above of 6 litres of Volvo approved Castrol Edge, oil filter and sump plug crush washer. I'm not even sure FRF Swansea could beat that price with club/forum discount.
