Default Wheel Alignment / Swopping Wheels Around

The front tyres on my 2002 V70 are showing uneven wear, indicating that the wheel alignment requires checking and adjusting. Shoot me down in flames, but would it be an idea to swop my wheels front to rear, the rears being hardly worn, to obtain a more accurate alignment than it being done with the currently unevenly worn tyres?
What are your thoughts?
Dave

I ran 2 V70's in the past. Each ran their tyres off slightly to the edges - the fronts on their inners, the rears on their outers. It was very slight but noticeable. My solution was to just swap front to rears, a couple of times during the tyre life. I always got full wear from them. The first V70 doing 240K in 10 years, and the second 115K in about 9yrs. The fronts will start to wear faster - see comment below, but initially this solution worked for me.

P2 V70's are very heavy on steering components. I'd check the bottom arm bushes for wear. Wear causes the front wheels to wear their inner edges too, usually under braking as the alignment alters. If both front wheels are wearing the same amount/pattern I'd suspect bushes - they tend to wear together.
Cheers
Bob

Thinking the tyres would sit squarely on the moving discs.

Mine are wearing towards the outer edge, the same on both fronts.

The datum points for wheel alignment are taken from the wheel rims not tyres.
