Default V60 egr delete

Hi all
I've recently brought my first car a 2017 v60, the engine warning light has come on so I plugged it into a obd reader and it's saying a egr isn't letting enough air though it, so I'm wondering is it worth getting it cleaned or just get a egr delete to solve the problem permanently.
Many thanks

You can try cleaning the cooler out, in my experience this only lasts a month or so. The only real fix is replacement. The coolers were modified to help prevent blocking. The valve can be cleaned and re used if the motors not damaged ect depending on whether the valve and cooler are blocked or just the cooler.

Having it deleted is technically an illegal practise and mot failure in theory. As your probs aware your just masking the issue but it will keep the light off. That of course is your choice.

Replacement of valve and cooler is about £1200 in parts alone. No harm in speaking to a couple of tuners to discuss delete. It won't fail an MOT unless you physically removed it and the MOT tester actually noticed

Emissions could be an issue, which it could fail an MOT on if the EGR is deleted. Then you're back at square one trying to get it through an MOT.

Remember, emissions criteria is stricter than it used to be. Of course, that doesn't mean "tampering" with emissions systems doesn't happen. There's vehicles on the road with blanked/deleted EGR's... we all know that. If it fails, you're buggered.

You only run into issues if you do the DPF delete.

I had my egr deleted on my euro 5 d5. Ran for 4 years without detection on mot, before my dad continued ownership.
As above, egr delete by a reputable company. Do not delete the dpf.
The egr requires to be fault free, so clean it out first and ensure it works before getting it killed.
You'll have a message from me with who you can send your ecm to.

from what i know if your dpf sensor fails it does not have its own fault code so it throws up a egr code

Blocked off the egr and remapped my 2015 V60 vea D4 over 4 years ago and has run perfectly since, no issues with MOT. I don't use Volvo dealership and on last recall instructed the dealer not to touch software.
Ignore the fear mongering on here.

Blocking off the EGR results in higher NOx emissions since the gases are not reintroduced to combustion. Performance will be better, more oxygen in combustion, exhaust emissions higher as above. Technically, the vehicle will probably not comply with the Euro class or has been awarded an exhaust gasses test would confirm this.

Since the MOT on a diesel is essentially a smoke test looking at opacity it won't get picked up unless exhaust gases are tested.
