Hi everyone, I’ve just purchased a 1982 224Dl , can some tell what petrol it takes
And will i need additives every time I fill , the person I bought it from said super unleaded is fine but I want to check with you guys , many thanks mark |

Your car is post 1976 so it will be happy on E10, it was designed for it.
Others say E5 is advantageous, I have no experience or evidence to support or disprove that. Enjoy your comfy purchase 👍😁

I think that it is kinder to the fuel system and, theoretically, the greater calorific efficiency should give a higher yield per tankful than E10, when driven like for like. Arguably, that gain will offset the slightly higher unit cost. A bonus, especially if, like us, you only cover a relatively small mileage, it doesn't go 'off' as quickly as E10 when left in the tank for long periods. Regards, John. P.S. My old chap is fine on E10 and when I go out in him I usually use half the tank , so that’s ok . Other than that I’m unwilling to pay the extra for E5 also it’s not available locally.
As for the metropolis, no mate , I’m just hiding a bit !👍😁

being a DL you should be a carb engine. I would try and stick to the same fuel to save changes being needed to the carb and timing settings.
