Whilst some PPS stuff is absolute rubbish the prop bearings are not too bad. I am over 10,000 miles on my one with a good amount of towing in that. Also fitted one to my dads 960 limo trying to cure a vibration issue. That now has 5-6000 miles on it.
Whilst you can not have confidence in any new rubber part these prop bearing are not typically a big issue for such premature failure. They never last forever as the originals do not have a huge life |

When pressing on I was very careful not to load the bearing incorrectly. I checked the seals were both unbroken both sides. Used plenty of grease to help it slide down, marked the prop etc. Took a bit of doing on the drive so pretty miffed it failed when it did! |

You do have to take care to press the bearing on only putting pressure on the centre of the bearing. pressing on the outer will damage the bearing
If is very possible that the bearing was just not made right, I would not expect a high level on QC on them |

I bought a bearing from brookhouse that was a PPS bearing and it had about four times more play out the box than my 210k mile bearing, so I bought an SKF one and it was much better.

are the bearings/carriers all the same size for 700/900s? M90 and 940 prop will be going into my 740, so I want to buy a new bearing/carrier for it ...

The vast majority are the same.
Some 740's have a smaller prop |
