Powered tailgate strut.

I recently replaced a powered tailgate strut. My tailgate only opens to head height . Then when I press the button to close it will need pressed again because it will stop about 45cm from full closure.
It will not let me reset height, I've tried this but there is no audible beeps.

Try removing the tailgate fuse and replacing to see if it resets and let's you set the height with the button, easiest thing to try first.
