Fault code P2002 DPF filter

Recently had engine light come on plugged in diagnostic tool and came up with code P2002 which I’ve found out is for ‘DPF running inefficiently. I’ve looked up the causes which could be a simple sensor, air leak or just a clogged filter

My question is, can or should u still drive the car while I wait for it to get into a garage to have it looked at. I have a fairly long drive over the next two weeks (300 mile+) I can’t get it into a garage for another 3 weeks which is when I go away on holiday

i would not drive as it may go into a permanent limp mode and leave you stranded somewhere far from home. the more blocked the dpf gets the less likely it will be to be remedied dose your car have the eloys system ?

That’s what I was worried about if I was on a drive and it went into limp mode. Yes it has eloys system as far as I’m aware

Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing the problem. I’ve heard people removing them but reading up on it it voids any insurance, it’s illegal and will fail MOT. I’m considering replacing the sensor to see if that the issue or looking at having it cleaned but from what I heard this is a temporary fix and won’t last long

Would I be better off just getting it replaced and paying a fortune

I’m not saying that your diagnosis is wrong but I would certainly change the fuel filter before I did anything else.

Some years ago I had the same issue, a new dpf didn’t cure it , a fuel filter did.

you need to get it scanned with vida or any other quality diagnostic tool to find out the true cause of the fault and how to remedy said fault the scan would reveal if your eloys tank is full and if the adm is working and show the extent of your dpf blockage good diagnostics is the key to success just reading a code is very basic info . dpf specialist would have all the right kit to tell you how to proceed

A Volvo specialist garage have offered to do a free diagnostic test so I might try them first and go from there

wow a free diagnostic check from a specialist. get there quick before they change their mind. good luck and report back with what they find . this will help others with similar problems / faults
