Bouncy brakes on my “new” V70
Recently got myself a well used 1999 v70 and the brakes are sometimes very bouncy, like i feel the breaks going off and on and the pedal will bounce around. doesn’t seem to alter the brakes too much but want to get it sorted.
I’m in middle of new breaks/ clean them or maybe an ABS issue? anyone had anything similar |

Sounds like warped discs. Does the car slow in a 'pulsing' fashion when given steady pressure on the pedal, especially related to the vehicle speed? I.E. does the pulsing slow down as the car comes to a halt?
If the pedal is bouncing quite rapidly, that could well be ABS, but it's not a symptom I've heard before - although, my experience is not comprehensive by any standards. Last edited by canis; Jul 10th, 2024 at 00:06. |

Also worth checking disc temperatures to work out which one by just holding your hand near (not on in case it burns you!) the disc. I've had sticking calipers before now (not your issue) and the disc has been noticeably warmer on that side. Once had it so bad on another car that the disc was glowing when I stopped and the night time moths were frying on the surface as they went towards the light!
