Guys, this is really interesting as I have been suffering these very same random problems for about 6 months now.....despite asking about this problem on here before I couldn't get an answer!......I tried all the usual loose/bad connection things and the car seemed fine.....then a month later I would lose all electrics warning lights would all light up and vehicle would nearly cut out......car would be fine again then for several weeks. A couple of Sundays ago the car just went into mad mode and continuously showed this fault with the radio going on and off like it was trying to make up it's own rap song, window switches would go, warning lights (ABS, info etc) would flash on and off as would the lights it then blew a dipped beam bulb in mid 'disco' light mode! As I turned the car off the fault reoccurred and I lost ALL electrics and the engine was completely dead (this happened on Christmas Eve also) after 5-10 mins it would then start ok as if nothing had happened! The fault was so bad I arranged for an auto electrician to look at the car but typically the fault cleared again and the car was running perfectly!.....His diagnostics showed power surges and failures across all systems but he was at a loss as to what the 'actual' fault was as he hadn't come across this before!.......I have since spoken to another technician who has suggested the usual connection faults or water ingress etc, he also looked on his web based fault listings for both Volvo and Ford and once again came up with a complete blank!

It's interesting reading your ideas above and before relenting and taking it back to a Volvo dealer it's good to have some idea as to what the possible causes could be......I'm also now due my annual service....not sure if that's good or bad reading the above!

I'll keep you posted as I know more!

Cheers
