An XC90 at your budget would probably be a money pit bud.☹️

But if that’s not what is wanted, it’s academic.🤔

In contrast, my aforementioned 745, 2.3 petrol auto, driven similarly, returned 27.3 MPG over 62746 miles and almost 16 years of detailed stats. Miles covered per gallon will vary with many different factors, but my experience may give Steven a rough idea of what he could expect. Regards, John.

The V70 that Andrew posted a link to looks like an excellent option compared with the type of 740/940 one might get for £1,500. The tax it a bit expensive (£395) to me (but then I'm used to historic vehicles) and the MoT history is a bit flaky (but it comes with a new ticket and no advisories): https://cartaxcheck.co.uk/free-car-c...y/?vrm=SJ52ORT ... overall I'd say it would make more sense that a £1,500 240/740/940 that will be a rustberg at that price.

It also depends on whether or not you want to deal with the FWD aspect of working in the engine bay, I have to deal with a basic 1.2 Clio FWD and that's more than enough transversely mounted pain in the proverbial for me.

Thanks for the advice.
Unfortunately we've got our hearts set on an old one. Wife really wants us to have one aswell. Luckily iv got a welder and have had many projects on the go. An MOT failure would almost be perfect for myself. Though one I can drive straight away would be ideal. Thanks Steve Last edited by Stevendefenderpric; Jul 15th, 2023 at 14:28. |
