I don't think history will be kind to the first generation of Euro IV concoctions. My brother went from his longterm 850 petrol auto to a Bavarian 525 hoping to get nearer my 47mpg and was rudely disappointed with comparable consumption to the 850 not to mention the silly pressure monitored mystery leak runflat dealer only switchoff things. Didn't last the year.

I wouldn't do that if I were you, it'll be an MoT fail next year…

Thanks to Ninja59 for originally posting that link.

PS: I didn't notice, Reggit already mentioned that. Still true though and worth emphasising, if the .gov.uk link is to believed.

a trip to MRP > should read MTE! Cant seem to edit it now. There seem to be a fair few who have used MTE as the prefered map and report good outcomes. http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthre...ap-2004-V70-D5

However, thanks everyone for the info about the dpf, certainly looks like that will be staying! Its therefore just a question of a bit more power (nice) and better mpg (desirable).

Having said that I returned from Shrewsbury to Bridgnorth this morning, a van slowed going up Harley bank and it just pushed straight past with a right foot moment, thoroughly rewarding although info computer instant mpg was clearly off at the time!

I've left my average trip computer running for well over a year on my 2008 V50 D5 and the average was sitting at around 31-32mpg. I drive it hard and the journeys arent always the longest.

After a remap the average is slowly creeping up. Its sitting at 34.5mpg at the mo and its been mapped for over a month and this is without resetting the start of the average. I might reset it now and just drive it for a few thousand miles as is.

You guys have made an old T5 driver very happy. I don't drive the old gal very hard often, but an overal average of 31 mpg again a dizzels 35mpg almost puts as big a smile on my face as passing a line of slower cars behind a wagon or caravan.

Cheers

Bob

Here Here to that Bob.

My T5 would average ~30 mpg under normal driving, but was sooooo much better to drive than the D5 I have now. Siilky smooth and whisper quiet. Why the f*** did I change it for a diesel 🙅🙅

If anyone does remove/map out DPF be warned it will not only fail MOT but will void your insurance as it's seen as a performance enhancement!!!!!

A mate was recently caught out by the latter following an accident.............

I bought a 56 reg s60 d5 se brand new in the day.
I had a remap to 215 bhp 3 months later and it flew, torque was unbelievable and the fuel consumption dropped by about 2 mpg down to 43.

I wish I'd never sold it now, best car I ever had.

Well I need to thank everyone for the useful guidance and comments. In conclusion I think I'll be keeping the DPF, and given the distinct lack of people saying re map it performance and mpg gains will come forth, I'll probably just leave it alone. So if you see a very gently driven V70 D5 with occasional flatout moments just for the smile effect do wave.. its probably me!

PS - to the petrol driving contributors, glad to be of service always good too make someone happy!

Default Dpf

You guys are keep talking about dpf removal and the mot fail . I don't want to be rude but does any of you have any idea about a proper DPF removal ?
Just to be clear from the beggining i am not representing or advertising any company who is doing that. A proper dpf removal will be like this: Take the dpf out , cut a small section , take all the ceramic out , weld that small section back , reconnect the dpf and remap the ecu. All the dpf sensors should still be connected so in this way the ecu is tricked that dpf is always there and it is always working perfect. None of the MOT testers will be able to check those things and all the emissions will be the same because for a car to fail without dpf they will have to measure de diesel particulate matter and they do not have the equipment for that and they will not have it because is very expensive compared with the normal emissions NOx so all they do is to measure the NOx emissions. Some of the company that are doing dpf's removals will even manufacture a brand new case but empty without ceramic so is it impossible for someone so see anything.
