I have converted my sidelight bulbs to LEDs, which makes them much brighter. I have also swapped my foglights for newer LED DRLs (after I killed the "normal" fogs in a flood and then by hitting a deer). They needed to be from an XC70, because the round ones weren't fitted to V70s for long before Volvo updated the nose and put in different shaped running lights. C30/V50 ones look the same, but the mounting lug is 90 degrees out on the lamp body.
I have VIDA/DICE and I reprogrammed the lighting so that the DRLs come on in position 1 (and therefore go off with the ignition), because leaving the sidelights on inadvertently (in position 2) flattens my battery quite quickly. Maybe because I also have the rear running light upgrade that puts the higher vertical (C-pillar?) rear lights on as well as the smaller, lower comma-shaped ones in the main rear light cluster. I am very happy with this arrangement.
