Interesting. I've never seen a Volvo that old be ULEZ compliant, not a diesel anyway. I know the ULEZ compliant one its a one owner car, but the mileage is a bit too high (175k). I know the 5 cylinder diesel engines are capable of big miles, but I think its a bit too high for a buying perspective. Things are bound to be worn/tired at that mileage (suspension in particular). I suppose it depends what has been done to it in the past, but it must have had some money spent on it to get to that mileage. It seems to have good history though... My Dad's V70 (2008) has 163k on it now, but he bought it with around 150k. I don't think he'd buy a car with 175k on it though, nor would I.

I thought i had read something about no diesel 5 pot V70 was ULEZ compliant, but it was not due to CO2 emissions, it was due to Nox emissions. This was the case I believe with my 2015 V70 D5 manual, which I understand is a 5B compliant car.I also have a faded memory, about final edition V70 being fitted with the VEA 4 pot 2 litre diesel, and they were ULEZ compliant.
I specifically bought my V70 cos I wanted a V70 5 pot, and Volvo had announced production was to change then stop. Cheers Bob.

Pre 2014, no diesel V70 is ULEZ compliant. They had 5 pot engines pre 2014, not VEA's. 5 pot isn't ulez friendly, at least not in the V70. Some other models like the V60 and XC60 have 5 pot diesel engines that are ULEZ compliant, but I don't think the V70 does. The newer V70's (14 plate to 2016) are ULEZ compliant, but they have VEA 4 pot engines. V70 production stopped and the V90 came out, replacing the V70. All diesel V90's are euro 6 complaint, but those are VEA's too. The car in question is the only V70 I've seen with a 5 pot diesel engine that's ULEZ compliant, yet its a 2012 plate. Very rare and I thought I was seeing things when I read the advert, but it all checks out.

Perhaps its owner worked at the ULEZ office and just added himself to the database of excepted cars 🤣 most jobs come with little perks. Perhaps that was his haha. Who knows……..

That's what I was thinking too, Graham.
The rules for ULEZ are Euro VI for diesel, Euro IV for petrol, possible number plate swap from a T3 is the only other explanation I can think of. Euro VI for diesel wasn't a thing in 2011.

I believe the last year of a of the XC70 which ran for a year longer (2016) than the V70 came with a Euro 6 compliant 5 pot as a D5. So if you want a compliant Volvo V70 that's probably the nearest best option if you can find one.
