Ok... so let me be clearer.....
If I use the switch on the front passenger door (the door with the malfunction electrics) the window goes up and down in a series of steps.
If I use the drivers door switches:
the front passeger window again moves up and down in steps but all others are fine.
The mirror will not move on the passenger but OK on drivers.
Now when it comes to the heater in the mirrors its one swith on the dash. If I use that the drivers wing mirror de-mists but the passenger mirror does not.

Knowing that would that still point to the PDM module?

Yes, it would.

The functions are driven by the PDM, the input from the switches remote to it are sent over the car (CAN) network but are still activated by the PDM.

Interesting; my (pass side) mirror doesn't move in ANY direction (all other door/power functions OK).

SO is this how it works... the PDM send commands over the CANBUS, which are received by a door module in the door - and that sends power to the relevant motor????

All these tech guys..........I had this problem on my old 240glt, on my 940 and a similar problem with the tailgate electrics..........broken wires in the loom, in the door frame.
On my 240 most of the wires were either cracked or broken which gave an intermitent problem
