I will also have to go with the above comments.

If you haven't already purchased the parts, these are the two parts that I would rather go with genuine: control arms (wishbone), and front/rear shock absorbers.

This is true in particular for those who will keep the car for another several years, are not afraid of spending some more, and especially want that 'Volvo' feeling. Nothing will give back the car more that Volvo feeling than genuine control arms and shock absorbers. The combo of these two parts will make your suspension and steering feel completely transformed as these combined not only affect the handling but also the ride on poor pavement/potholes/bumps. Along with these new Sachs spring seats will also be needed. And if you really want the car to feel like a new one, add new genuine springs (at least front ones) but by then the bill is getting longer.

All genuine parts can be had online from resellers, no need to get them from the main dealer and have a nervous shock. However careful with the shock absorbers to get the exact specific part number for the chassis, as there are several numbers available and some of them will change the car riding height: better meet first the main dealer to obtain the correct part number, then order online.

Default Front suspension arms...

Welcome to the Forum - you won't find a better place for your questions than here! ( the forum not me!) I'm just looking to change mine on my 2003 V70 D5 with 134000 miles...they are on the originals and getting a bit tired I think. Anyway, I've seen genuine Lemforder ones on buycarparts.co.uk and also on autodoc.co.uk for about £64. They come with 2 year warranty on Autodoc. I totally agree about most parts being inferior to genuine Volvo but I believe the suspension arms were made by Lemforder? I am of the opinion that in not fitting the best quality bits to your Volvo you are turning it into an average car a bit at a time....
HTH,
Nobby

I wouldn't bother with Brembo brakes....

Fitted them all round on my V70 .. work well, great feel, stopping power etc..

But.... Theres always a but..

I already got mine swapped under warranty because of a warped front disc an now I'm getting a vibration from the back braking from motorway speeds. I had no trouble with the originals which were Volvo ones. originally made by Jurid and available from GSF..

Jurid discs are made in Germany , Volvo discs are made in Sweden ...

There was an older fellow who worked on Volvos near me and when I went to his place with my first V70 to say hello his wife said to me "when it comes to brakes, just buy the Volvo parts. We've seen them all. Just buy Volvo brakes".

So I do.

Thanks Cheshired5, I've ordered the Volvo arms from them as well now. all that is left are the hand brake shoes now and I can get it all fitted.
Thanks for all your help and same goes for Clan.

Thank you all other members who have replied as well, all the info and advise is much appreciated and it is nice to get this help as I am not much into my cars but love my Volvo so far and would like to keep it on the road for many years to come, with as much as the real Volvo feeling I can get.

I had already bought the Brembo rear brake discs but with the original Volvo brake pads, and will order the real Volvo handbrake shoes.
