Inflation these past few years in the UK must have been far worse than my recollection informs me it was, as when I got my V90 five years ago I was shocked to hear Volvo did not automatically supply hard copy user manuals with new cars any more so paid for a hard copy user manual preferring not to be reliant on Sensus having not gone down and/or my phone not being in a data signal blackspot to be able to access the user manual in the proverbial middle of nowhere in an emergency situation, and the cost then was around £25 inclusive of VAT...so that's more than 300% inflation over the past five years!

I had this problem the other day. Where’s the button? The driver’s side tailgate button, where the instrument dimmer switch was (still miss that!), or actually on the tailgate itself?

Down to the right of the steering wheel adjacent to the tailgate button, you know, the one you press when you are in the driver's seat and SWMBO is standing at the back wanting to put her shopping in!

Back on topic, I found that the Manual has been moved to the bottom of the Maintenance screen. This is on iOS, Version 5.42.0. I've not tested the Android version.

Tap the third icon at the bottom of the screen (car icon), and select the Maintenance menu. On the Maintenance screen, there is an "Open Manual" link in the bottom right corner.

Burying the manual 3 levels deep must mean Volvo really really want us to visit the dealerships more often.

It's the same with Android. Tap the car icon in the center, then there's an Open manual option in the list.

The filler flap opening button has returned to these models a few years ago. Our XC70 2012 and 2016 had the button but it's missing on my XC90 2019. Now it's back again.

Nope, no maintenance screen or ‘open manual’ on my v 5.42.0. That’s on both iPad and iPhone.

I think only plug-in hybrids get the fuel button as the fuel system on these cars is sealed and partially pressurised to help avoid fuel 'going off' given that it's possible for fuel to stay in the tank for weeks or even months.

Pressing the fuel button opens a valve and equalises pressure in the fuel tank.

That would explain it. Shame the Volvo manual writers didn't know it was there.
