balljoint?
Thanks guys for the replies, appreciated..
I was wondering with the replacement of the lower balljoint, and can imagine this being a pig to drive back into the locating hole in the hub (as your having to hit it upward), i guess to free it you could hit the old wishbone with some downward force to get the balljoints locating stub to come out,..? what was your experience if youve replaced one? Do you think i could then remove the whole strut without undoing the large bolts and messing with the alignment (once the old wishbone is removed to allow vertical movement) by undoing the top 3 nuts and then get the whole strut on a bench/vice to use a section of pipe or large socket to drift the new balljoint into the hub hole? |

Using ratchet strap is "by the Volvo book".
However, you must lift the front of the car from both sides, or the other loaded control arm end sits too high and the strap has too sharp of an angle so it pulls the wishbone sideways not down. Same or even worse would be when tied to a subframe.
